Authorities Arrest Oregon Fugitive

For the past eight and a half years Timothy Allan Clements, 54, has been a fugitive from justice. After his arrest on Tuesday morning by detectives assigned to Sacramento Police Department’s Career Criminal Apprehension Team (CCAT) he will soon face a judge in Oregon who will sentence him for sexual assault crimes he committed in Eugene, Oregon, in the early 1990s. He was arrested March 1, 2000. He was subsequently released after pleading guilty to sexual abuse of two adopted children and he fled.

The FBI in Eugene and Sacramento worked closely with the Eugene Police Department and the Sacramento Police Department CCAT team to develop information that Clements had assumed the identity of a dead man, William George Hamister, 62, and was residing in the South Sacramento area. After answering a knock on his front door Clements was taken into custody by detectives without incident. He is scheduled to make his initial appearance in state court this afternoon and will eventually be extradited to Eugene, Oregon.

Clements previously plead guilty to four counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree and one count of Sodomy in the First Degree and was scheduled for sentencing on February 13, 2001. Clements’ life on the run began after he failed to appear for sentencing and his whereabouts since then have been unknown.

Further inquiries regarding this investigation should be directed to Detective Jeff Donaca, Eugene Police Department, 541-682-5193.
