FBI Reward Still Unclaimed
On May 9, 2005, the FBI issued a press release offering a reward of up to $50,000 for the identification, arrest, and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for placing two improvised explosive devices found at two state buildings in Auburn, California. Authorities are continuing their efforts to identify those responsible, and, although the reward has gone unclaimed to date, it is still being offered by the FBI.
The first device was found on February 13, 2005, at the Placer County Superior Court Building on Maple Street. This device was hidden inside a duffel bag and placed near an entrance door. The second device was found on February 15, 2005, at the California Department of Motor Vehicles office on Enterprise Drive. This device was hidden inside a green garbage bag and placed next to a rear entrance door. These explosive devices were capable of causing extensive damage, and injury or death, had they fully functioned.
The Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), which is comprised of the FBI, ATF, local, state, and federal agencies, is investigating these incidents. Anyone with information concerning these incidents is asked to contact the JTTF at (916) 481-9110.
