The FBI and local authorities are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of robbing four banks in the Sacramento area and one in Fairfield.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 40 years old, with brown hair and a close shaven salt and pepper beard. He is 5’7” to 5’9” tall and has a medium build.
During the last several robberies the suspect has stuffed money into his shirt leading authorities to nickname him the ‘Stuffed Shirt’ bandit. He has made oral demands during each of the robberies and although he has indicated he has a gun no weapons have been seen.
The spree started last fall in Fairfield with a September 1 robbery of the Bank of America, 2400 N. Texas Street. The suspect was dormant for eight months before he struck again in Woodland at the Bank of the West, 186 Main Street, on May 3.
He has been much more active as of late with three robberies within the past two weeks. He is also wanted in connection with a June 11 heist in Roseville at River City Bank, 3992 Douglas Boulevard; a June 20 robbery in Sacramento at the Bank of the West, 3509 El Camino; and a June 23 robbery in Lincoln at Wells Fargo Bank, 945 Highway 65.
This case is being investigated by the Sacramento Violent Crimes Task Force (SVCTF), comprised of FBI agents and Sacramento County Sheriff's Department Robbery Detectives, and detectives from the Woodland, Roseville, Lincoln, and Fairfield Police Departments.
