Inmate Sentenced to One Year for Assaulting Correctional Officer at Federal Prison

SACRAMENTO, CA—Acting United States Attorney Lawrence G. Brown announced today that Magistrate Judge Gregory G. Hollows sentenced JUAN VILLANUEVA-MACHADO, 33, an inmate at Federal Correctional Institution-Herlong, to one year in prison consecutive to his current term for assaulting a federal prison correctional officer.

This case is the product of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

According to Assistant United States Attorney S. Robert Tice-Raskin, who is prosecuting the case, on January 24, 2008, VILLANUEVA-MACHADO, while being advised regarding his daily work assignment, swore at a senior officer at FCI-Herlong. Then, using his fist, he struck the officer’s left arm.
