Fresno Man Pleads Guilty To Possession Of Child Pornography
FRESNO, Calif.—United States Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced that THEODORE MEEKER, 66, of Fresno, Calif., pleaded guilty today before Senior United States District Judge Oliver W. Wanger to two counts of possession child pornography. As part of his plea agreement, the defendant agreed to an 11.25 year term in prison to be followed by a 10-year term of supervised release.
This case was the result of Operation Valley Predator II, a month-long multi-agency effort that primarily targeted individuals who had previously been convicted for offenses involving the sexual exploitation of minors. The investigation was conducted by the Fresno Cyber Crimes Task Force, which includes the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Fresno Police Department, the United States Secret Service, the California Department of Justice, and Fresno County Sheriff’s Department.
According to Assistant United States Attorney David Gappa, who is prosecuting the case, MEEKER admitted that from approximately January 2006 through June 2007 he used two separate computers to possess more than 600 images of child pornography. Some of the images were of prepubescent children and some depicted violence and or sadistic abuse. The defendant also admitted that he had engaged in a pattern of sexual abuse or exploitation of one or more minors.
MEEKER has been detained as a flight risk and danger to the community since his initial appearance in federal court on August 25, 2008. He is finishing a 365-day jail sentence imposed in Fresno County Superior Court for committing lewd acts on a minor.
MEEKER is scheduled to be sentenced on January 5, 2009, at 9:00 a.m.
