Yuba City Drug Trafficker Receives Stiff Firearm Sentence

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — United States Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced today that RICHARD RAMIREZ, JR., 23, of Yuba City, Calif. was sentenced today by United States District Court Judge Edward J. Garcia to 11 years in prison.

This case was the product of a joint investigation by the California Highway Patrol and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

According to Assistant United States Attorney Kenneth J. Melikian, who prosecuted the case, on April 18, 2008, RAMIREZ pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamine and marijuana with the intent to distribute, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of his drug trafficking activities.
