Former Tucoemas Federal Credit Union Employee Sentenced For Embezzlement
FRESNO, Calif.—United States Attorney McGregor W. Scott announced today that TAMARA NAVARRETTE, 28, of Visalia, Calif., was sentenced today by United States District Judge Lawrence J. O’Neill to four months in prison, four months of home detention after her release, and 36 months of supervised release. The defendant pleaded guilty on March 14, 2008.
This case is the product of an extensive investigation by the Fresno Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
According to Assistant United States Attorney Laurel J. Montoya, who prosecuted the case, NAVARRETTE embezzled in excess of $48,000 before April 2005 while she was a Membership Representative in the Tucoemas Credit Union’s Whitendale and Cypress branches. The members whose accounts were fraudulently accessed by NAVARRETTE ranged in age from 65 to 97 years. Before pleading guilty, NAVARRETTE made full restitution.
